Just came back from badminton. And surprisingly I’m not aching at all. Haha. Maybe my stamina have improved. Xichie went to play with me and Cheryl today. Just like every badminton session, it was fun. You know, its so much fun if you play with your classmates and friends instead of playing against people you don’t really know well. Xi’s badminton skills not bad la.. her reflexes quite good but she sometimes I wish she could run more for the ball cos I like to hit drop shot balls to make people run more.
Hahaha.. back to yesterday.. I was kinda sad because another friend of mine was being a little angry over something..i shan’t elaborate on it..but its just that, you know when there’s a minor misunderstanding and a friend gets angry over it, you try your best to console and dispel her anger away and talking to her.. Thankfully, after much talking this little thing didn’t jeopardize our friendship together. :D
Guess what fellow ex rafflesians.. I visited our old school yesterday!!
LOL. Me and joyce had this sudden urge to go back to raffles to eat their canteen food. Trust me, there’s something about their canteen food that is so memorable, it compels old students to come back to have a taste of it again. Before the day begun, we were exchanging smses and relishing about how good the baked spaghetti, scallop potatoes, fish cake with extra chilli, and fried rice were. Well, actually, I was the crazy fellow dreaming of eating all of that yesterday, while if I do recall, the main thing that was on Joyce’s mind was the lovely five stones the 6-fingered drink stall aunty used to sell. There were especially soft, it was as though the aunty grounded the green beans before carefully filling them into the empty triangular cloth sacks. Back in those days, before assembly started and before the recess breaks ended, legions of young kids masterfully throwing up those five stones over and over again were a common sight We would often rush up to the hall and start throwing those sacks of rice or green beans once we arrived or as soon as we finished our tea snacks. The older ones would play group/mass catching around the whole school in the 1st and 2nd storey instead. Lessons were a bore so none of us and because Chinese was usually just before our recess break in primary six, it reigned it our hearts (well at least in mine) as the subject we hated the most.
So when me and joyce stepped into the gates of our alma mater, our eyes widened upon seeing many colourful structures at the front of the porch, near the canteen. They actually built a gigantic playground for the primary school kids to play! And I’m not talking about the mini ones we used to have at the school field or the ones at our neighbourhood, this one was insanely massive and overly colourful. Haha. The length of the playground took up the entire length of the canteen, it almost felt like a neighbourhood cum kindergarten cum childcare centre cum discovery center playground was in the school. Apart from that change, kids as young as 6 or 7 years old were carrying nike water bottles and converse bags to school. I wonder what it’ll be like ten years down the road. Primary one kids would start bringing sony Ericson phones and mp3s to school while in jcs, our graphic calculators would have colour and touch screen functions. You’d never know.
Anyway, you could not believe how delighted we were to see ALL our vendors still working there selling food. And most stalls didn’t change their menus or prices, and so, canteen food price still ranged between 50c to $1, and that also meant that me and joyce ended up buying loads of food from there. Then we sat at the macs table and talked haha. All the young kids left the mac tables, I think we scared them away.
Anw, needa run off now. my mum bought strawberry cheesecake icecream from haagen daz!!!
